Juice, Party, Snack & Lunch Suggestions
Dear Parents, As you all know, part of the commitment that we make to you
when you enroll your child at Rye Country Day is to focus on
the development of the total child. We are concerned with
all aspects of your child's development including his or her
physical well-being.
We try hard to limit sugar and be very conscious of food
additives, preservatives and empty calories. We use natural
ingredients when we cook with the children and talk with
them about nutrition. We have a NO CANDY rule at school. If your child brings
candy in their lunch it will be sent home and we will offer
a piece of fruit or healthy alternative. Many of the
lunchables have candy for dessert and we are asking
parents to take the candy out before school so we do not
have to take it away at lunch time.
We would like to ask for your cooperation too, especially at
birthday and holiday time. We understand that kids prefer
cake on their birthday, but also would like to suggest ways
to limit sugar and food additives. Most of the time our
parents prepare our holiday celebration snacks and we have
suggestions for those preparations also.
