March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. We have our fingers crossed for more lamb days, however- we were spoiled in February with some beautiful days! We hope you all had a healthy and restful winter break and we are happy to see smiling faces!
Though March is just beginning, our summer camp program offerings are being finalized and we look forward to getting that information out to you soon.
Most classrooms will be trying to trap a Leprechaun this month in honor of St.Patrick's Day! This is a beloved activity here at RCD- one that will live on in memory for many years in your children. Please check your child's calendar and newsletter for exact dates and wishlist items. Those pesky Leprechauns are very tricky!
RCD will be closed on Friday, March 16th for a teacher workshop day. Each year, the teachers come together to tackle important topics that will better our school. All teachers are able to come together to exchange thoughts, ideas and goals. Rye Country Day is quite unique and has so many moving pieces. (morning programs, afternoon programs, M/W/F programs, T/TH programs, 5 day programs, early morning programs, extended day programs) Essentially, this means that it is next to impossible to find a time that each of our talented and thoughtful teachers are able to gather. This day is so valuable - our teaching team is like no other!
This year, teachers will be working to improve our Progress Reports and our assessment tools and strategies. Our goal is to make our future Progress Reports more individualized as well as taking into consideration the recent shift in Kindergarten (and later grade) requirements. Even though we would LOVE for students to stay with us forever, we sadly understand that children grow up and eventually need to leave us! We expect all students to leave us prepared and excited to move on to their next educational step!
Thank you to the families that filled out the Parent Surveys after your January conferences. This information will also be helping us shape our program going forward! We so value your input!
Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Happy March and Happy (almost) Spring!
