Rye County Day Preschool Program

Preschool Programs are offered to children who turn 3 or 4 by September 30th of the year they enroll and are fully potty trained. Families can choose between 2-, 3- or 5-day morning or full day programs.

Rye Country Day provides a safe and nurturing environment which promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children. We believe that learning occurs as a result of the interaction between the child's thoughts and rich experiences with materials, ideas and people. The experiences we provide match the child's developing abilities and challenge the child's interest and understanding. Our integrative approach focuses on the process of learning, giving children the tools, to help them become successful and responsible learners. By meeting the children at their individual levels, involving them actively in their learning, and celebrating their growth, we help to build a positive self-esteem. Each child becomes an integral part in a community of learners and classroom family. Literacy, language development, math, science, health, sensory/motor development, dramatic play, music, art, yoga, sign language and Spanish are included in our preschool curriculum. Curriculum is interwoven throughout the day in fun and meaningful ways. Many of our preschool classrooms offer a multi-age experience.

Expectations and goals for our returning (2nd year) preschoolers are designed to prepare them for the next steps as they move onto kindergarten. We tailor our curriculum to meet children’s learning needs in all areas of development. Continuity is beneficial as children grow and develop. When able, we keep children together with teachers and peers during the preschool years.
